WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY?

PSYCHOLOGY & PHYSIOTHERAPY

Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and mental processes. It seeks to understand how individuals think, feel, and act both individually and in groups. Here are some key aspects of psychology:

  1. Behavioural Study: Psychology examines observable behaviours and how they are influenced by internal states and external environments.

  2. Mental Processes: It explores internal experiences such as thoughts, emotions, and perceptions.

  3. Scientific Methods: Psychologists use research methods to gather data, test hypotheses, and develop theories about how mental processes and behaviour function.

  4. Application: Psychology applies its findings to help improve mental health, enhance personal development, and address societal issues. This includes therapeutic interventions, counselling, and guidance.

  5. Diverse Fields: Psychology encompasses various subfields, including clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, and organisational psychology, among others.

  6. Empowerment and Support: Psychologists aim to empower individuals by helping them understand their own behaviour and mental processes, offering strategies to cope with challenges, and promoting mental well-being.

Overall, psychology is concerned with understanding how and why we think, feel, and act in the ways that we do, with the goal of applying this knowledge to improve individual and collective lives.

Our in-house psychologist, Sarah, works collaboratively with our physiotherapists to provide holistic care. By integrating psychological and physical approaches, Sarah and our physiotherapists identify and address the root causes of your conditions and symptoms. This teamwork aims to resolve contributing factors, advance your treatment, and prevent future relapses.

While Sarah often collaborates with our physiotherapy team, you can also schedule an appointment with her directly, without needing to see our physiotherapists first.
